All About Montana Rose Equine Therapy

My name is Ciarra Olson, and I am the owner and equine bodyworker behind Montana Rose Equine Therapy. Horses have always been a central part of my life — from riding and caring for them growing up, to working closely with them as an adult. Living and working with horses has given me a deep appreciation for how much they give us, and how important it is to care for their bodies so they can stay strong, healthy, and comfortable.

My professional journey in massage therapy began in 2017, when I completed over 750 hours of training at Lake Superior College to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. Over the years, I gained experience in a variety of settings, working alongside natural health practitioners and building a strong foundation in therapeutic massage. I discovered a passion for helping the body heal — easing muscle and joint pain, improving circulation, restoring mobility, and supporting recovery from injury.

That same passion naturally grew into a focus on equine massage and rehabilitation. Horses, like people, benefit immensely from skilled, hands-on care and advanced therapies. Today, my work blends the fundamentals of massage with modern modalities like Indiba® Equus, kinesiology taping, and cold laser therapy. This whole-body approach allows me to address not just the symptoms, but the root causes of discomfort, helping horses heal, stay sound, and perform at their best.

At the heart of my practice is a simple goal: to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care that truly makes a difference in the lives of both horses and their riders.

Horses have always held a special place in my heart. Growing up, I eagerly rode any horse I could and participated in lessons covering dressage, jumping, western riding, and cutting. At 16, I rescued my first horse, Trexx, who turned out to be a bit of a "problem child." He struggled with ongoing lameness issues, and despite numerous examinations, no solution seemed to arise. At one time, I received advice to consider euthanizing him due to his soundness problems. This fueled my determination; I refused to abandon the horse I had saved. Even if it meant he would never be ridden again, I wanted him to live pain-free and sound in the pasture. This marked the beginning of my journey into equine bodywork, as I began incorporating massage into Trexx's monthly routine and witnessed significant improvements.

In 2020, I attended Equine Sports Massage Training through Therasage EMC, which greatly expanded my understanding of equine bodywork. Since then, I have pursued additional courses with Trinity Equine Services, Sozo Equine, Therasage EMC, and Angels Animals LLC, allowing me to integrate Kinesiology Taping and Cold Laser Therapy into my practice.

I am committed to deepening my understanding of horses and bodywork so that I can provide you and your horse with the highest level of care possible.

  • At Montana Rose Equine Therapy, my focus is on supporting the health, comfort, and performance of your horse through a whole-body approach to rehabilitation and massage. Whether your horse is recovering from injury, in need of maintenance care, or striving for peak performance, I create tailored treatment plans that meet them where they are and guide them forward.

Every session begins with a thoughtful assessment and a conversation about your horse’s history and current needs. By listening closely to both you and your horse, I’m able to design a plan that addresses the root of discomfort — not just the symptoms.

I believe lasting wellness comes from treating the entire body. That’s why I combine hands-on massage with advanced therapies like Indiba® Equus, kinesiology taping, and cold laser when appropriate. Together, these therapies promote healing, improve mobility, and help prevent future issues, giving your horse the best chance to move comfortably and thrive.

At its core, my work is about more than techniques — it’s about compassion, connection, and a genuine commitment to helping horses feel and perform their best.
